Yes, it’s very true one never gets another chance to make a first impression but people forget that first impression is not the last chance to make a good impression.
This is the story of a classmate in Secondary School who set his eyes on a pretty lady and wanted to win her love at all cost. From the look of things, this lady was from the city and a well to do family, whilst this mate was from the village and a poor farmer’s only hope. My mate was advised that in order to get the lady’s affection and attention, he must take her out to an expensive restaurant and also get her some few gifts. I advised him to let go or just be a friend and allow the lady to like him for who he was, but this fell on deaf ears.
Before I knew it, my friend had spent half of his academic fees on the lady in question. Portraying to the lady he was also from well to do family. Well he did win her love but maintaining the relationship on an empty pocket became a nightmare for him. He couldn’t meet the lady’s demands, and he was dismissed from school for non-payment of bills. Eventually the lady and everyone in school got to know the truth.
Although the lady liked him; the lies and pretense turned the like into hatred. While living here on earth, it is very important you spend your life with the people who make you happy, not with those you have to impress. This is one lesson which has changed my friend, a lesson which changed his destiny. He has become a successful farmer and entrepreneur now. Sometimes, the strongest and most bitter drug needed to change us for the better is another human being. And when things go bad, you don’t need to use that as an excuse, rather make improvements.
The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. Don’t forget, to accomplish anything in life you need peace of mind. If the mistake you made has turned you into the talk of town, it’s necessary you lose your connection with people, places or things that created all the noise surrounding you. Go on and don’t be ashamed of your story, it will inspire others one day if you don’t quit. Always remember there is no reset button in life. You can’t take anything back, and you can’t undo anything.
All of your actions have consequences, and the things you say and do today will have a lasting impact on the rest of your life. You have to understand that and be careful in your decision making.
In conclusion “But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams” – 1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT).
